Our bungalow at Umngazi

Whoo hoo …. hubby and I had one of the honeymoon suites at Umngazi River Bungalows and Spa!!  It was simply fabulous!!  Secluded with river and sea view.  It was magic!!  Like being in Mauritius but without the flights!!   We had our own path leading up to the bungalow and further up the hill to a 4 vehicle car park.  It was very comfortable and cool, with overhead fan, (just what we needed in the heat) en suite bathroom with outside double shower and spa bath!  In fact in the afternoons it was too hot outside so hubby sat on the couch and I lay across the bed, both reading and both catching the best of the fan!   Arrow marks our bungalow with white dot of chimney amongst trees …

Closer view with uphill path on right ..

Gradual path becomes very steep then ends with steps up to our bungalow .. it was tough until we got used to the climb several times a day!!   Down to eat .. up to sleep !!   We made sure we didn’t leave anything behind .. keys, water bottle, camera and hats before descending !!

Car park is up more steps and zigzag uphill path!!  It was hectic!!  ‘specially in the humidity!

Early morning from our deck.  Cows make their way from the river bank every evening to sleep on the sand for warmth.  Most days they lingered, walking slowly round the river bend on the left to drink the water where the sand is flat.  By midday they made their way back to the grass and trees of the river bank only to repeat this trek in the evening …

Turn right to the main lodge for lunch, sundowners and dinner .. turn left for breakfast exclusively for 7 bungalows .. ours included 🙂  oh so special 🙂

There is a private dining area inside and on the deck for breakfast, a small lounge with TV, and a splash pool on the sun deck.  Breakfast is the only meal served here, but it’s open all day for drinks, tea and coffee for guests of those 7 bungalows ..
