Hubby and I came back to Trinity College on the day we arrived back in Dublin from our 10 day self-drive tour but unfortunately the Long Room and the Old Library were closed for the day.  The Old Library houses the Book of Kells ‘the most richly decorated of Ireland’s medieval illuminated manuscripts which may have been the work of monks from Iona, who fled to Kells in AD 806 after a Viking raid.  The book, which was moved to Trinity College in the 17th century, contains the four gospels in Latin.’    I really really wanted to see this but we ran out of time 😦
