Our Cape visit … Olive Grove Guest Farm

It’s been two years since hubby and I travelled by car to the Cape.  This time to visit family and friends, and especially my Mum.   Breaking the journey with an overnight stop is much more pleasant than doing the 1402 kilometre stretch in one hit.   The first day was motoring through the Great Karoo, semi desert region of more than 400 000 kilometres which can be boring for some, but we enjoy it’s vastness and unique beauty …

We whizzed passed this old car with Zimbabwe number plates, and hubby wondered how much petrol it guzzles on long trips, especially these days with the cost of petrol rising continually !!

This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Olive Grove Guest House, near Beaufort West a little more than half way

Definitely recommend an overnight stop at Olive Grove .. comfy rooms, honesty bar, delicious dinner (at extra cost but worth it- how can you not have home cooked Karoo lamb!!!!)    and breakfast and very friendly service, run by husband and wife team, Ian and Sonia.  There are also self-catering cottages and a swimming pool on the farm.
