Last part of our full day in Nice – a drive up the Corniches .. coastal road that hugs the cliffs between Nice and Monaco … a visit to the Parfumerie Fragonard followed by dinner at La Bergerie d’Eze, an fabulous hilltop family-run restaurant
Firstly our bus made it’s way passed a war memorial ‘for all the sons of Nice who have died for France’ during 20th century conflicts .. (photos thro’ bus window)
.. and Nice’s Harbour ..
… a church where seafarers come to prayer before going out to sea, and families of seafarers come for comfort and prayer when their loved ones are out at sea ..
Parfumerie Fragonard, between Nice and Monaco, high up above the sea, is a perfumery, soap and cosmetics factory equipped with the most modern laboratories and workshops. We were given a very interesting and informative tour of the labs and workshops ..
No photographs were allowed inside except in the foyer .. light as air purple butterflies hung from the ceiling …
A fascinating experience; how fragrances, soaps and cosmetics are made with precious oils pressed from thousands and thousands of flowers ..
A display cabinet filled with old labels from ‘back in the day’ …
.. and perfumes ..
In the gardens surrounding the Fragonard building were a couple of rows of Fragonard roses, with large gorgeously fragranced blooms
They’re still beautiful as they fade …
Of course there is the usual shop at the end – the ‘tourist trap’ – to catch you as you leave 🙂 One needs to budget for this one:) I would love to have filled a basket of soaps and crémes. All the men were waiting patiently at the door for their better halves!!! I bought soap for a dear friend, a perfume for Elaine’s birthday and, lucky me … one for me too 🙂 The perfumes are bottled in stainless steel which prevents evaporation and keeps it perfect for a long long time ..
I was going to add the restaurant and our dinner to this post but I”ll do it next .. the Parfumerie and the restaurant deserve separate posts 🙂
