It’s such a miserably windy, icy day today, although the sky is completely clear of clouds. It’s warm in a sheltered sunny spot, like inside near a north facing window with the sun streaming across the room – but away from that warmth, it’s freezing!! Not wanting to venture outside, started me thinking of places we’ve been to that I haven’t blogged about .. one of them being Galway in Ireland on our trip, now 3 years ago, in 2009!! How time is flying 😦
We stayed in the Park House Hotel in the city making it easy for us to explore on foot. Our room overlooked a tiny courtyard, the decor of the hotel was elegant, as were quite a few of the hotels we stayed in Ireland. It was very comfortable – highly recommend it. We stayed two nights, breakfast included. Had one dinner at a recommended pub across the road and the other we had in the hotel – I remember we both had the most delicious haddock !

From Galway one can easily do day trips to the Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey, the Burren and Cliffs of Moher which we did. A pity we didn’t have time to take a ferry to the Aran Islands and many other historic and interesting places.
