Magnificent panoramic views from the Swartberg Pass between Oudsthoorn and Prince Albert
Just when I’ve got used to WordPress and the layout etc, I come back from a glorious 3 week holiday and find there are changes !!! Challenges (sigh) !!
Our holiday was wonderful! Although very sad, as hubby’s Mum passed away while we were in Knysna, the day before Mother’s Day. When we were in Port Alfred, his sister phoned saying their Mum was very ill. The next day we were leaving Port Alfred anyway. We travelled down to Plettenberg Bay … picked up a hired car for me … I followed hubby to Knysna … once we booked into our lodgings perched on the hillside overlooking the Knysna Lagoon (wonderful!!!!!!) … he made his way down to Hermanus. He managed to see his Mum when he arrived in the evening and spend time with her. Spent precious time with her in the morning before driving back to Knysna. Thank goodness he did … she passed away the following morning 😦
The family and staff at Elephant Hide Lodge perched-on-the-hillside were amazing! They were warm and friendly, went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcoming – going to do a post on the Lodge. They were wonderful ! When they heard hubby’s Mum had passed away, flowers were brought to our room with a lovely note of condolences – that was special …
Lots of photos to follow …. we travelled to Port Alfred, Knysna, Oudsthoorn, Hermanus and Somerset West, with overnight stops in Aliwal North on the way down and our favourite stop-over at the Kuilfontein Stable Cottages near Colesberg.
Thanks so much for wishes for my Mum’s birthday. Very hard seeing her again as she is … I didn’t think it possible for her to ‘go down’ further. Oh my …. heart wrenching to see her as she is now, but she knew I was there .. I could tell
